GVR Team Captains and Yeah Yeah Yeah’s

regular gvr
October 2, 2007 (Lake Forest, CA) – etnies is proud to announce the starting five for the Goofy and Regular teams in the GvR Finals on October 7, 2007 at the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest. In addition to all the skateboarding set to take place, there will be a free concert by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more.

The unique format of the etnies GvR of Skateboarding contest pits two teams, Slap Magazine’s Regular Foot riders (left foot forward) against The Skateboard Mag’s Goofy Foot riders (right foot forward), with each team appointing a team captain. The starting five pro skateboarders Mark Whitely, captain of the Regular Team and editor of Slap Magazine, skater picks include:

• Sean Malto

Representing The Skateboard Mag, Editor-In-Chief Dave Swift, team captain for the Goofy Team, will be guiding the following handpicked skateboarders:

• Jereme Rogers
• Greg Lutzka
• Darrel Stanton

In addition to all the skateboarding, a highlight of the weekend will be a special performance by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, in etnies’ parking lot above the skatepark, after the GvR qualifiers on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Free tickets to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs concert will be available at select etnies retailers throughout Southern California. Sanctioned by World Cup Skateboarding (X Games, Gravity Games, etc.), the etnies GvR of Skateboarding has invited more than 100 of the top professional skateboarders from around the world to compete for the contest’s biggest purse ever, $100,500. Over 15,000 people are expected to attend throughout the weekend and the contest will be webcast live on the etnies GvR web site at gvr.etniesskate.com. The etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest is located at 20028 Lake Forest Drive in Lake Forest, CA. Public parking for the event will be available along the street and in parking lots at the intersection of Rancho Parkway and Windrow Dr. Parking is not allowed in the Home Depot parking lot located across the street from the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest.
